R.E.M.: Out of Time: Texarkana |
|
Texarkana Texarkana is a border town between Texas and Arkansas; "-arkana" is perhaps reminiscent of "arcane". [Ron Henry] * It's a play on the work "arcana," which refers to forgotten or mysterious lore. [Joshua Hall-Bachner] * "Most people think the name "Texarkana" recognizes only two states -- 'tex' for Texas and 'ark' for Arkansas -- and they forget the 'ana' thereafter alludes to Louisiana." [Christi Rose, quoting L.M. Boyd] * Yup. Apparently the city was going to border all three states, but at the last minute they moved it about 20 miles, and now it only borders two. [Chris Piuma] |
